I had a coworker come up to be and start complaining that they don’t make any “straight pride” shirts. I asked him if it was because he really had nothing to be proud of.

He then goes on a tangent about how he’s tired of “the gayness” being “shoved down everyone’s throats.” He said nobody talked about this 40 years ago (40 years ago... when women couldn’t buy real estate in the state of Oregon, schools were still desegregating, and gay people hid in the darkness? Cool). This person is younger than me, and for whatever, hates HATES hates gay people. Which I’ve told him about a dozen times, is just fine. You do you.

Just don’t shove it down my throat.

Simply, if the LGBT subset of our population had the same rights and respect as the hetero population there wouldn’t be a pride movement. Last time I checked no one was trying to take away my right to marry the person I love or is forcing me to pee in a certain bathroom. It also seems to me that folks that gay bash are very insecure about their own sexuality.

I stayed at the hotel there, the bar is great!! I dont get it, like most educated people i assume... i was never tought as a child to hate people different than me, or that i was different from anyone else for that matter..its like people dont have enough problems of their own. Now they have to go find other stuff to be angry about....because we just have that much extra energy to expend on other peoples personal lives!!! Who fucking cares....i wish i had the time and energy to find gay people upsetting. Instead, i dont care.

I grew up in the south and used to hear a lot of gay bashing. For a long time, I thought it was because the guys doing the bashing were afraid that gays wanted to have sex with them.
